My name is Emily Bond. I am an ordinary resident of Worcester who with a small group of volunteers have created The Worcester Bus Users’ Forum. We launched in July 2018 with the aim of improving services, tackling congestion and reducing social isolation in the city. The intention is to work with First Bus to resolve these issues. We were therefore disappointed to learn that they are planning to drastically cut some vital services that will be detrimental to many businesses, their employees, vulnerable and isolated residents, and others that need to use public transport in Worcester.
The changes will come into effect on September 17th and full details can be found here:
Many different organisations are voicing their concerns about these cuts in various ways, including: online petitions, correspondence with City and County Councillors and with the bus company.
Worcester Bus Users’ Forum is proposing to bring together all interested groups, organisations and businesses to address these problems. I would therefore like to invite you to a meeting at The Hive in Worcester to discuss our concerns and plan together what we can do as a community. The meeting is open to all and will start at 1 pm on August 22nd. I hope you will be able to join us.
If you are unable to attend the meeting, but still wish to be involved, please email me and I will send you a copy of the minutes along with any specific actions that have been agreed or proposed. I would also invite you to extend this invitation to any other organisations or businesses that may wish to be involved.
Your thoughts, opinions and concerns would also be greatly appreciated on The Worcester Bus Users’ Forum: www.worcesterbusforum.org.uk
